Packing Greener: Why We’re Giving Away Re-Usable Airport Toiletries Bags

At I Love meet and greet, we’ve always believed that small changes can add up to a big difference—especially when it comes to protecting the planet. That’s why we’re excited to share our latest eco-friendly initiative: giving away re-usable airport security toiletries bags to our customers.
If you’ve ever travelled through an airport, you’ll know the drill at security. All your liquids, gels, and creams under 100ml need to go into a clear plastic bag. Most people grab the free single-use bags provided by the airport, use them once, and then throw them away. Multiply that by millions of travellers each year, and the waste really starts to add up.
We wanted to find a better way—and that’s why our departing customers have been receiving a durable, stylish toiletries bag designed specifically for airport security checks. Strong, reusable, and practical, these bags are made to be used over and over again—helping to cut down on single-use plastic waste while making travel easier for our customers.
Building on Our Eco-Friendly Journey
This isn’t the first time we’ve encouraged travellers to make greener choices. Over the years, our customers have joined us in a series of environmental campaigns, each tackling a different issue but all with the same goal: reducing waste and supporting sustainability.
Back in 2015, we joined the Great British Bee Count. Our airport teams at Gatwick and Stansted swapped their high-vis vests for bee costumes to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators. They recorded bee sightings on their daily rounds and even planted wildflower meadows at our Gatwick HQ to create a safe haven for bees. It was a fun campaign with a serious message: bees are essential for biodiversity, and they need our support.
That same year, we also turned our attention to forests. We pledged £1 from every August booking to WeForest.org, an international reforestation charity. Trees play a vital role in absorbing carbon dioxide, restoring ecosystems, and empowering communities, so our customers’ summer holidays helped plant new trees in areas that needed them most.
Fast forward to 2018, and we launched our #ParkThePlastic campaign. That Easter, we gave away thousands of reusable stainless-steel straw packs, each including a straw, a cleaning brush, and a jute pouch. The campaign struck a chord with travellers who wanted practical alternatives to plastic, and it remains one of our most popular initiatives to date.
Now, our reusable toiletries bag giveaway is the next step in this journey. Just as we helped customers ditch single-use straws, we’re now making it easy to swap out single-use plastic bags at airport security.
Why Toiletries Bags?
Airports across the UK issue millions of disposable plastic bags every year. They’re convenient in the moment, but most end up discarded after a single use. By giving customers a reusable option, we’re tackling a small but significant source of travel-related waste.
Our new toiletries bags are:
- Airport-approved – Designed to meet security requirements for liquids, gels, and creams.
- Durable and re-usable – Built to withstand multiple trips, unlike flimsy single-use bags.
- Stylish and practical – A travel accessory you’ll actually want to pack again.
And of course, the bags aren’t just for travel. Many of our customers have already told us they plan to reuse them for gym kits, makeup storage, or even everyday organisation at home.
A Word from Our Founder
For us, sustainability is about making eco-friendly choices easy and accessible for everyone. As our founder and Managing Director, Sarah Anglim, explains:
“Just as our reusable straw campaign empowered customers to ditch single-use plastic, our new toiletries bag initiative enables travellers to make eco-conscious choices as they journey—without compromising convenience at security. We’re proud to offer a practical, stylish solution that keeps sustainable travel front and centre.”
Small Steps, Big Impact
Some might say a toiletries bag is just a small thing—but that’s exactly the point. Real change happens when lots of people make small adjustments that add up over time. If every traveller swapped single-use airport bags for a reusable one, the reduction in plastic waste would be huge.
And because our customers are often frequent flyers, the impact grows with every trip. Each time someone reuses their bag, that’s one less piece of plastic heading to landfill or polluting our oceans.
Join Us on Our Sustainable Journey
We know our customers care about the planet just as much as we do. Time and again, you’ve joined us in our campaigns—whether that was spotting bees, planting trees, or ditching plastic straws. Together, we’ve already made a difference, and this is just the beginning.
So next time you book with I Love meet and greet, keep an eye out for your reusable toiletries bag. Pop it in your hand luggage, pack your liquids, and walk through security knowing you’ve made a greener choice.
Because when it comes to protecting our planet, every bag, every straw, every bee—and every traveller—counts.
