What Types of Vehicles Can Use Meet and Greet Airport Parking?
Meet and greet services, like those offered by I Love meet and greet, are designed to make your journey as smooth as possible — simply drive to the airport, hand over your keys, and head straight to check-in while your car is parked for you.
One of the questions we’re often asked is: what types of vehicles can use meet and greet parking at the airport? The good news is that the vast majority of cars and standard vehicles are welcome. From compact hatchbacks and family SUVs to saloons and estate cars, almost all roadworthy vehicles can be parked using our service.
That said, there are some important exceptions and restrictions in place, mainly for safety reasons, site access, and insurance limitations. Here’s a detailed look at the types of vehicles that can and cannot use I Love meet and greet parking.
Vehicles We Can Accept
- Standard Cars – Whether you drive a small city car, a family hatchback, or a luxury saloon, these are all perfectly suited to meet and greet parking.
- SUVs and 4x4s – Larger family cars are welcome as long as they are within the size restrictions mentioned below.
- Estate Cars and People Carriers (MPVs) – Ideal for family travel, these vehicles can be accommodated provided they do not exceed our length or seating limits.
Essentially, if your vehicle is road legal, taxed, has a valid MOT, and does not fall into the excluded categories, it can use our services without issue.
Vehicles We Cannot Accept
Although we strive to accommodate as many customers as possible, there are some vehicles we are unable to accept for meet and greet parking.
1. Licensed and Heavily Adapted Vehicles
We cannot accept licensed taxis or private hire vehicles. The same applies to vehicles that have been heavily adapted or modified in ways that may affect their size, handling, or parking safety.
2. Oversized Vans and Lorries
Our parking facilities are not suitable for very large vehicles. Vans longer than 5 metres are not permitted, nor are big lorries such as long transporters or recovery trucks. These vehicles are simply too large for our bays and parking systems.
3. Vehicles with Trailers
Unfortunately, trailers cannot be parked with us. All vehicles must be able to be driven and parked as a single unit.
4. Minibuses with More than 9 Seats
We cannot accept minibuses with more than nine seats (including the driver’s seat). These vehicles fall outside our insurance and parking capacity limits.
5. Bubble Parking Height Restrictions
For customers using our Bubble Parking options, please be aware that there is a strict height restriction of 1.8m. This is due to barrier and site access limitations. If your vehicle exceeds this height, you’ll need to book an alternative meet and greet service instead of Bubble.
Vehicle Condition Requirements
Alongside these size and type restrictions, there are a few general conditions that all vehicles must meet in order to be parked with I Love meet and greet:
- Roadworthy – Vehicles must be safe to drive. We cannot accept cars that are in poor mechanical condition or likely to break down.
- Valid Tax and MOT – Every vehicle must be legally road compliant. We are unable to take responsibility for untaxed or untested cars.
- Fully Drivable – Vehicles should arrive under their own power, not requiring towing or jump starts in order to be moved.
These requirements ensure that your car, and those around it, remain safe and secure while in our care.
Why Restrictions Are Important
While most vehicles are suitable for meet and greet parking, these rules exist to keep the service safe, efficient, and reliable for everyone. Parking facilities are carefully designed for cars that fit within standard dimensions, and our insurance policies only cover certain vehicle types. By setting clear guidelines, we can guarantee a smooth handover and parking process for every traveller.
In summary, almost all everyday cars — from small hatchbacks to larger SUVs — can use I Love meet and greet parking without any issues. Restrictions mainly apply to oversized vehicles, licensed taxis, or cars with unusual modifications. As long as your vehicle is roadworthy, under 5 metres in length, and not a large minibus or lorry, you’ll be able to enjoy the convenience and ease of meet and greet parking at the airport.
If you’re unsure whether your car is suitable, don’t hesitate to check with our customer service team before booking. That way, you can travel with peace of mind knowing that your vehicle will be safely taken care of while you’re away.
