America’s Best Ski Resorts

With the arrival of the wintry weather here in the UK, the ski season is definitely upon us. And with many of I Love meet and greet customers hitting the slopes over the next few months, both in Europe and the US, we thought we would take a look at America’s most popular ski resorts that our customers are flying to this season.

Skiing in America is a very different experience to European skiing and the States has much to offer; the resorts and slopes are relatively quiet, the pistes are immaculately groomed, the non-existent ski-lift queues, the acres of ski terrain to explore and the spacious accommodation.

Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge in Colorado is very popular with our customers and with 3000 acres of skiable terrain across 187 trials we can understand why. Breckenridge is 40 miles northwest of Vail and 80 miles northeast of Denver. It is a historic wild west mining town with traditional wooden buildings lining the Main Street. Thanks to the high altitude, as it boasts one of the highest summit elevations in the US at 12,998 feet, there is plenty of snow all season. The mountain provides varied terrain which make it suitable for all skiing abilities.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole in Wyoming, a genuine ranching town, sandwiched between Teton and Yellowstone National Parks is another top choice for our customers. Jackson Hole is ranked one the best ski resorts in North America. It offers 2500 acres of skiing and riding and has a very impressive snow record. Jackson Hole has the longest vertical descent in the USA and is perfect choice for experts and intermediates. Beginner and intermediate trails make up half of the terrain making it suitable for the entire family.

Lake Tahoe

Another popular destination is Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, where California and Nevada meet. It offers winter sports lovers a unique opportunity to ski two US states in one day. Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America provides the back drop for some breath-taking scenery. And with 34 miles of wide open, groomed runs Tahoe is renowned for its incredible variety of both downhill skiing and cross-country skiing options.

Aspen, Colorado

Aspen in Colorado has always been well-liked by our customers and is one of the all-time great ski destinations, a world-famous resort with stunning views of the Aspen Mountain. Skiers of all abilities will find enjoyable and challenging pistes over 5300 acres of terrain between Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, Buttermilk and the Highlands. Beginners will love the uncrowded learner slopes of Buttermilk while experts can take on the demanding Highlands. Aspen is vibrant with a wide range of cultural, shopping, drinking, dining and some of the best après-ski options.

Vail

Many of our customers are flying to Vail, world renowned as a first-class ski destination and has the largest single ski mountain in the USA. The ski area is enormous with over 5289 acres of fantastic tree-lined wide-open runs, steep slopes and seven legendary back bowls. With an average of 348 inches of snowfall and 300 days of sunshine a year, Vail is a fantastic place to ski and has something for everyone.

If you are jetting off to the slopes over the next couple of weeks, don’t struggle with airport buses, let I Love meet and greet help you with your ski luggage by meeting you and your car outside the airport terminal allowing you to go straight to departures.
