Will There Be Extra Charges If I Return Late From My Holiday?
Going away should be stress-free — but it’s only natural to worry: what happens if my flight is delayed, or I’m late coming back and my parking time has expired? As a WHICH? Recommended provider with a strong customer focus, we understand these concerns. In this post, we’ll explain when late returns might incur extra charges, what our terms say, and what you can do to avoid surprises.
What Our Terms & Conditions Say
If you’ve already booked with us, you’ll have agreed to our Terms & Conditions, which cover what happens if your parking stay ends up being longer than planned. Key points include:
Under Payment & Cancellation, the terms make it clear that “increase stays without prior notification will be charged on the return of the vehicle.”
There is also a specific clause saying “extension to bookings that have already started will incur a daily charge to be paid on return.” For I Love Meet & Greet, the current daily charge is £15 per day.
Some parking products like Supersaver or Bubble are non-refundable and fixed, and also have stricter rules about cancellation and changes.
So yes — if you stay longer than you originally booked, without telling us in advance, you will be charged.
When Extra Charges Might Apply
Let’s look at likely scenarios:
Situation | Is there an extra charge? | What kind of charge / how much? |
Your return is only a few hours later than planned | Possibly – if the booking is already in place and you exceed the booked stay | Daily over-stay rate, which for I Love Meet & Greet is £15 per extra day. |
You notify us in advance that your return is going to be late | Possibly more manageable — if we know ahead, we may accommodate | But we may still charge the overstay. It’s best to communicate so we can plan. |
You’ve booked a Supersaver or Bubble product | Likely yes | These are non-refundable and less flexible, so over-stay charges are almost certain. |
Significant delays beyond your control (flight, customs, etc.) | We understand — but the same over-stay rules generally apply | While we try to be reasonable, the contract still allows for extra day charges. |
How to Avoid or Minimise Extra Charges
Here are some tips to make sure you don’t end up paying more:
1. Allow buffer time when booking — don’t plan to return just at the cutoff. Leave an extra day if your return could be late.
2. Let us know as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. If we’re aware, sometimes we can make arrangements in advance.
3. Check which type of product you booked. If it’s a fixed-product (like Supersaver/Bubble) with limited flexibility, know that changes or late returns are less likely to be accommodated without charge.
4. Read the confirmation and terms carefully. We send you a confirmation email with the booking reference. That’s when the terms become binding.
What You Can Expect at Return
When you come back later than the return date/time you booked:
On returning your car, our staff will check the stay duration.
You’ll be asked to pay the extra daily charge (currently £15/day) for any extra full or partial days beyond your booking.
There won’t be a refund or credit for unused booked days if you shorten the stay; likewise, once the booking has started we cannot cancel part of it.
Bottom Line
Yes — if you return later than your booked return time without notifying us, and your stay has begun, there will be extra charges under our standard over-stay daily rate (currently £15 per day). However, being proactive (letting us know you’ll be delayed) and choosing more flexible booking options can help avoid surprises.
If you’re planning your trip now, it’s worth double-checking your return flight times, building in buffer time, and picking a booking type that gives you more leeway. We’re always happy to answer questions in advance — better to plan a little extra than get caught out afterwards.
Safe travels and enjoy your holiday without worrying about hidden costs!
